Public Information Requests

For all requests for information, please complete the Public Information Request Form (link provided below) and submit it to the City Secretary’s Office. Requests for information are accepted in any written form in addition to the forms provided for your convenience. All written requests must include:

  • Person requesting information
  • Preferred method of communication
  • Exact details of information being requested
  • Preferred method of delivery of information, i.e. fax, email, mail, etc.…

What is Public Information:

(a) "public information" means information that is collected, assembled, or maintained under a law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business:
(1) by a governmental body; or
(2) for a governmental body and the governmental body owns the information or has a right of access to it.

When should I fill out a Public Information Request Form?

A public information request form is required for information such as:
  • City Contracts;
  • Documents on Structures Built Within the City; i.e. plans, plats, code enforcement;
  • Police Reports; or
  • Any request for "public information" as defined above.

What information does NOT require a Public Information Form?

  • Job Postings
  • Hours of Operation
  • City Council and or Board/Commission Minutes and Agendas

Ad Valorem (Property) Tax Records and Information

The City of Jacksboro does not maintain these types of records. These records are maintained at the Jack County Appraisal District. They can be reached at (940) 567-6301 or online.

Response Time

By law, the City has ten (10) business days, excluding weekends and city-observed holidays, beginning the first day the request is received by the City.

Requests submitted on non-business days are not counted received until the following business day.

For example, if you submit your request on Sunday, March 4, the City date-stamps it received on Monday, March 5. The count begins on Tuesday, March 6, and the tenth business day is Monday, March 19. In this example, you can expect to hear from the City on or before Monday, March 19.
