In a special called meeting Tuesday, August 7th, the City Council voted to hold two public hearings to discuss the proposed property tax rate. These two meetings will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 5:30 pm on August 21st and 28th. The proposed tax rate will increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 11.02 percent. If approved, the tax rate for the City of Jacksboro will be set at $1.18 per $100 of taxable value. Using the average taxable value of a residence homestead in Jacksboro, which is $51,597, the average taxpayer will pay $608.84 in property taxes to the city.
