CITY OF JACKSBORO General Election Information
It is the honor and responsibility of the City Secretary's Office to oversee the City Council election process for the City of Jacksboro. Elections are conducted annually on the Uniform Election Day in May (the first Saturday in May.) However, due to Texas Election laws regarding campaign finances and legal matters, the role of the City Secretary's Office is limited to the role of accepting and filing the various candidate applications, affidavits, and statements and noting the date of filing. Candidate applications and forms for the May 2, 2026 General Election can be found here, or in the City Secretary's Office. The first day to file for the May 2026 election is January 14th!
GENERAL INFORMATION: ELECTIONS AND VOTING
The City’s General Election is held the first Saturday in May of each year.
All City Council places are 2 year terms being elected “at large” as each represent the entire community.
The Mayoral race is held on odd numbered years, along with Council Places 2 and 4;
Council Places 1, 3 and 5 are held on even numbered years.

Voters must register through the Jack County Voter Registrar prior to an election to be able to vote in any election.
