The city owns several residential lots. There is at least one that would be perfect for a community garden that folks could volunteer and benefit from. The perfect city lot would be best if it was centrally located. There is a lot of interest already with this idea, because I did a Facebook poll. The city would need to dedicate a LOT of land to this massive venture. All types of vegetables & fruit trees would be warranted. We would need a tool shed, and water source. Possibly a fenced perimeter. And to begin - a decent funded budget which could be gathered via fundraising and donations. In speaking to other communities that have taken on this adventure - it can get very in-depth or it can be kept simple. It depends how the community would like to run with it. It would also bring in positive publicity for the City/Town/community.

2022 5k run/walks! One for beginning the new year, one for Spring, one for Summer, one for Fall & one in Winter! Bringing Healthy Back in Jacksboro. Bringing the community together each season with an affordable entry fee and great T-shirt. This is something everyone can do, handicapped, elderly, young and old, babies in strollers, mayor, judge, public service personnel and everyone in between! We could even get vendors to set up throughout the route. We could use the waking route at the Fort maybe… I believe this was be a huge hit! I’d even help organize this event each time too!

We all know that the roads in our town are in various need of attention. To help ease the demand on the street dept employees, the city could provide the repair material, and allow individuals, to come get the material to fill the holes in front of their property.

Several different grocery trucks come through our town on several time a month. Jacksboro should reach out to the different companies, and entice them onto opening a store on town. The prices at our only grocery store has resulted on many citizens going to surrounding towns to buy groceries and while they are in other towns they buy less expensive gasoline and diesel fuel.
